Cure Parkinson’s Fundraising Heroes: May 2025

This month’s fundraising heroes include cyclists, a half marathon runner, and a push-up challenge to help the Parky Charter petition.

Cycling across Corfu…

Fundraiser Richard chose to support Cure Parkinson’s this May by setting up his ‘4 P’s for Parkinson’s’ challenge in Corfu.

The challenge saw Richard, who lives with Parkinson’s, cycle with a big group of friends and family to four destinations on the island all beginning with the letter P: Palaiokastritsa, Perithia, Pantokratoras and Pericles. The team cycled around 175km and climbed 3,200m over three days, raising over £14.5k in support of our research.

…And through Caledonia

Closer to home, supporter Ewan took on Etape Caledonia – a closed-road cycling event through the Scottish Highlands. Ewan chose to tackle the longest route, setting off on the 85 mile course from Pitlochry and passing by Loch Rannoch, Loch Tummel and climbing Mount Schiehallion on a surprisingly warm weekend.

Team Cure at the Great Manchester Run

Meanwhile Jennifer represented Team Cure at the Manchester-based half marathon, running 13.1 miles to raise funds and awareness for us.

Jennifer’s husband, John, was diagnosed with the condition in 2022, and in 2024 Jennifer stepped back from her corporate career to spend more time with him. Since then she has also enjoyed spending more time running, so challenged herself to take on the Great Manchester Run and raised over £2.5k.

1,000 push-ups a day for the Parky Charter

Supporter Tony, whose wife Stephanie lives with Parkinson’s, decided to take on this unique challenge to help support the Movers & Shakers Parky Charter petition.

The petition needs to reach 100,000 signatures by September in order to be considered for debate in Parliament, so Tony has taken on this daily push-up challenge to create awareness and encourage people to add their signature. Keep pushing, Tony!
