
KENTUCKY — April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month, a time to come together to raise awareness and advance research toward a cure for Parkinson’s disease.
Medical experts said Parkinson’s disease occurs when there is a problem with certain nerve cells in the brain that control movement. The disease affects how one moves.
Without a cure, people with Parkinson’s disease struggle with progressive, often debilitating symptoms. But as Spectrum News 1’s Sarah Genhofer explained during this “In Focus Kentucky” segment, deep brain stimulation is considered a lifesaver for many.
