Team behind Rock Steady Boxing receives Sagamore of the Wabash award

Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb awarded the team a “Sagamore of the Wabash” for their extraordinary contribution and remarkable impact.

Rock Steady is a boxing program for people living with Parkinson’s Disease.

It was founded 18 years ago in the Castleton area and has now grown to serve up to 60,000 people this year at 814 gyms in 14 countries.

Patients say the exercise and rigorous training is life-changing for patients and gives them hope and community.

Former Marion County Prosecutor Scott Newman came up with the idea of Rock Steady after his early-onset diagnosis at age 40.
