This October, JCC Rockland is introducing classes for those diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. All classes are led by certified group exercise instructors with extensive experience working with people living with PD. Classes begin the week of October 6, 2025.
Based on the Power for Parkinson’s guidelines, classes are led by certified group exercise instructors with extensive experience in working with people living with PD. These classes also meet the World Health Organization and the CDC and Prevention recommend “at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity per week for those diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease” Our Fit & Steady class will be held on Mondays at 12:15 PM. This class will enhance strength, mobility, and gait training. Our Rhythm & Balance class will be held Tuesdays at 12:30 PM. This class brings music and movement together to improve flexibility and coordination. Our Tai Chi for Parkinson’s class will be held Wednesdays at 12:15 PM. This mind-body exercise is beneficial for posture, motor function, and fall prevention.
In addition to the classes, the JCC’s Russin Fitness & Wellness Center includes: Seated Cardio Machines, including NuStep Recumbent Cross Trainers, endorsed by the Parkinson’s Foundation, Balance Stations, and various strength circuits.
