From island walks to lengthy bike rides, and even a spot of canyoning – our fundraisers took on some incredible challenges for us in June!
Walking the Isle of Wight
Supporter Caroline recently walked the Isle of Wight’s 70 mile coastal path and raised over £1,300 in aid of our research!
Caroline, who lives with Parkinson’s, was inspired to take on this walking challenge by our late co-founder Tom Isaacs, who set off on a year-long, 4,500 mile walk around the coast of Britain in 2002. Caroline has also committed to complete the 70 mile walk every year until she is no longer able to, turning the challenge into an annual fundraiser.

A reunion and ride for our research

Longtime Cure Parkinson’s supporter Phill recently joined his university friend Trevor for a stretch of Trevor’s 300km charity cycle from Leicester to Cardiff. Trevor chose to take on this three-day challenge as both Phill and their fellow university friend Sian live with Parkinson’s.
Phill joined Trevor for day one of the challenge, which took them from Leicester to Coventry (where they went to university). They even stopped by their old campus to a very warm welcome and to present us with a cheque.
London to Brighton bike ride
29 fundraisers joined Team Cure for the iconic London to Brighton bike ride this year, and raised a staggering £17,000 in support of our research!
Setting off from Clapham Common, Team Cure cycled 54 miles from South London to Brighton’s sea front via the quiet country lanes of Surrey and Sussex.

Triple the challenge

Meanwhile Barney, Andrew and Lecky challenged themselves to complete the Blenheim Palace triathlon.
The trio chose to swim, cycle and run to raise funds for 13 different charities, including Cure Parkinson’s, and managed to secure match funding from their workplace for donations made by their fellow employees.
Canyoning for a cure

Fundraiser Nadia embarked on an alternative challenge by going canyoning with her family!
The group spent the day wading through streams, scrambling over rocks and sliding down waterfalls to raise vital funds and awareness for us, and absolutely smashed their fundraising target.
