THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Tight end Colby Parkinson‘s homecoming signing with the Los Angeles Rams has had some extra benefits.
Thinking about what that experience has been like over the last month-plus, family memories made come to mind first.
“It’s been amazing, it’s been such a blessing,” Parkinson told theRams.com. “We stayed with my parents for awhile, so I was able to see my parents be grandparents to my son, which is a huge blessing. It’s crazy, you know, driving around. I have so many memories of all these places and it’s really cool to be able to come back.”
Parkinson’s parents, as well as wife Melanie and son Forrest, were all on hand for the team’s family day last week, so in addition to seeing him at home, they also got to see him at practice this spring. Parkinson said it was his first practice his son got to watch.
The former Stanford standout had one of the highlights of OTAs when he used his size and length to snag a Matthew Stafford pass out of the air, over the middle and in traffic. Much like being around family, Parkinson has also enjoyed his time with the Rams early on.
“It’s been awesome,” Parkinson said. “The team is a lot of fun. A lot of hard working men. The offense is stellar, as you guys know, but I’m getting to see from the inside out now, which is really cool. So, excited to be a part of it and contribute the best way I can.”
Now that OTAs and the offseason program have concluded, Parkinson said he’ll be going back to his offseason home of Nashville, Tennessee, and train over the next five weeks to “get in the best shape I can and come back ready to go.”
