Brett Favre opened up about his health struggles
Brett Favre, former Green Bay Packers quarterback, revealed in September that he has Parkinson’s disease and began seeking medical attention after experiencing arm issues. Highlighting his health struggles during an interview with TMZ. The Hall of Famer said, “I felt my arm, the strength was there, but I could not guide it. And it was the most frustrating thing.”
Favre is experiencing stiffness in the mornings, in addition to his deteriorating arm strength. “With my Parkinson’s, the main side effect is rigidity and stiffness. I have a little bit of shaking, but not much. But, rigidity and stiffness,” Favre said. “When I wake up in the morning, I feel like a board. I don’t need any help because of football to be any stiffer. But, all things considered, I’m a very blessed man.”
Favre, who claims to be the “earliest patient” they’ve ever seen, caught his disease early, and his medication is currently helping manage his symptoms. Favre is receiving immense support from his friends and family, as well as his fans, during this challenging period. “First, I want to thank God for all He has done in my life. Next, thanks to Congress for giving me the platform to discuss a much needed TANF reform,” Favre wrote on social media in September. “As you know, I was recently diagnosed w/ Parkinson’s which has been an ordeal. My wife, family, and friends have been supportive and I want to thank them for being there for me. To my fans and those wishing well — thank you all for the love.”

Favre admits to the challenges associated with symptoms such as tremors, stiff muscles, and fatigue. His diagnosis partly stems from the physicality of the NFL, hitting, and concussions. Favre has also been an advocate for player safety; he has pressed parents to limit the amount of tackle football that children are allowed to participate in.
