LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences hosted the 9th annual Parkinson’s symposium Sunday afternoon in Little Rock.
Parkinson’s Disease can cause unintended or uncontrollable movements, as well as difficulty with balance.
Sunday’s symposium covered topics related to therapies and strategies for dealing with the neurological disorder.
“We’re trying to build these resources so people can have a contact person they can reach out to if they need education, outreach, and support,” Neurologist Dr. Rohit Dhall stated.
Dr. Erika Petersen, Professor of Neurosurgery at UAMS said that the information learned today will be used to help other communities and patients.
“We also have clinicians here that are here today to learn information as well and take that back to their communities to help their patients,” Petersen said.
Around 100 patients, caregivers, family members and physicians attended the symposium in person with more watching virtually.
